Looking after a stair lift is relitively straight forward. Below are some tips to help keep your investment running smoothly.
- Always keep the lifts pathway clear of any obstructions such as shoes, laundry etc.
- Dusting the rail some time to time can prevent the rollers from becoming clogged with dirt. For painted rails, a mild detergent can be used to wipe off any marks.
- Dont let children play on the lift. Many come with a key which can be removed to prevent unauthorized use.
- Don’t exceed the maximum carrying capacity of the stair lift.
- Always make sure the lift is parked on the charging contacts after each trip.
- Regular servicing will prolong the life of your stair lift and help avoid unnesessary repairs.
How long do stair lift batteries last?
Modern stair lifts run on two 12 volt bateries, the major advantage is that the lift will still work in the event of a power outage providing there is sufficiant charge.
The average life of the batteries is 3-5 years but this all depends on how often the lift is used.
